On Monday, October 16th at the FUE theater, Professor Mostafa El-Feky – the great politician and thinker – presented a public lecture to students of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science under the deanship of Professor Salwa Thabet. The lecture entitled “Education and Egyptian Personality Building”.
The lecture comes as a start for the activities of the current academic year. Dr. Mostafa pointed out that the new republic of Egypt is based on two dimensions: institutional and philosophical, the institutional dimension is based on enhancing the role of all institutions in the way that all Egyptians aspire to, while the philosophical dimension includes the role of writers and thinkers in shaping the collective mental component of Egyptians, and education is present in both dimensions. He also mentioned that education is a political issue, has reflections on national security, Egyptian identity and influences the regional role of Egypt.
Following the lecture, an open discussion took place with the university guests and students endorsing the role played by education in developing the values of belonging and awareness of national identity to adapt to the constraints of the present and the challenges of the future.
The event was attended by a distinguished group of intellectuals, writers, academics, ambassadors, diplomats, politicians, members of parliament, and civil society representatives.
